Customer Deletion

Hi! I know that customer accounts can be de-activated, but it would be very helpful (especially if we use this system year after year) to actually delete a customer's account. I file away all the info I need for taxes, year-end reports, etc. at the conclusion of each year. Leaving customer accounts that are "beyond" deactivated creates clutter and information that is no longer needed for the coming seasons. I expect that some customers will leave after a season, due to various reasons, and will not return. How can I get delete their accounts/info permanently? If this is already possible, please excuse this and offer instructions. Thank you!

There is no way to delete customers who have placed orders. You may file away the info in your own system, but the growers at your market may not, and may want to go back years later and see their sales histories.

I'm curious how it creates "clutter", however. The only time you'd see them is if you look at all your customers, and don't have the inactive customers hidden. Can you tell me more?

Well, hopefully our customers never leave! I've mentioned before that we don't use your software the way it's meant to be used for a market. We're the only grower, we keep our tax records separate from the locallygrown.net order histories, and have no need for "old", non-returning customers info. But, it's not really a big deal (though I still think it would be useful option).

Our market was a trial market for last year (we were quite happy with it, despite the fact that we are pushing the limits beyond what it was designed for). I think we will just start over by creating a new market with the name of our farm, and delete the current market (also because the current mkt's name is similar to mkts we want to create for our county farm to chef/table/school program).

My new question is: how do I delete a market? If you have to do that, please wait--I'm not ready quite yet! I will be sending the payment for this market shortly...

    Thanks again,
    jess

OR, could I just change the name on the current market? (sounds too easy!)

Like with customers, markets with a history can never be completely deleted, only marked inactive and hidden from view. Let me know when you're ready, and I can do that.

Giving an existing market a new address is something I can do, but it is likely to confuse customers and will break all existing links on other websites back to your market.
